Patrol5th graders participate in school patrol throughout the school year. Students should report to Mr. Olson's classroom before going outside.
The reporting hours are as follows:

Snacks & TreatsStudents may bring snacks to school daily. I prefer that the snacks are healthy. Candy and soda are not permitted.
Many students elect to bring in treats to celebrate birthdays. Those treats must be store-purchased with ingredient labels. This helps me ensure that students' dietary needs are monitored. Lunch Calendar |

AbsencesWhen I am given 24 hours notice of an absence, I will be able to gather some work. Please know that most of the activities we complete in the classroom are collaborative and experiential. These activities are difficult to fully reproduce outside of school.
When students are absent, I will work with them individually when they return to get them caught up. Students will receive reasonable time to complete missed assignments. |
K BuddiesEach fifth grader is matched up with a kindergarten student. This "K Buddy" is student that your child will mentor throughout the school year. We will work on art projects, reading skills, social skills, and much more with the kindergarten students.

Class AnimalsWe have aquariums in our classroom with walking sticks and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. We also have a dozen zebra fish. The daily care of these animals is the responsibility of our fifth grade students. The animals are safe to handle and do not bite!

HydroponicsWe have a hydroponic garden in our classroom. With the help of Folwell parent, Jen Brewer, we will be growing vegetables and flowers in our room. Mrs. Brewer will be coming in to our classroom multiple times to teach nutrition related lessons.

3D PrintingWe are lucky enough to have access to an Ultimaker2+ 3D printer in our classroom. We use the printer for various design thinking/engineering projects throughout the school year.
